HUNTING ARGUMENT

Hunting isn’t a nice sport to play. In fact I don’t even call it a sport, I call it a game of slaughter. When you go hunting you are trying to kill an animal, And if you don’t clean the animal, you shot, it will start stinking and other animals have to suffer the horrible death, and stench. I think you should be the one who cleans the animal up!

Hunting is bad for the environment & endangered species. Sometime inexperienced hunter mistake a species that is ok to hunt with a endangered species. An example of this in NZ is the takahe, which are endangered, being mistaken for pukeko and accidentally murdered.
Trophy hunting is also a big problem.Trophy hunting is when you go to places like Africa and hunt big game animals  like, lions , tigers , giraffes and elephants, ete.
This is a problem because soon the endangered species could become extinct! An example of this is the white Rhino, it was hunted to almost extinction by trophy hunters  who just wanted tuskes for ivey. This is why hunting has a negative impact for many living things.

You may not think this, but when you go through the bush you might  stand on a native plant. When you go out you don’t look down to see what you are treading on, that means the plants can be driven to extinction and will die out. If you make a path to a hunting area, and cut down a native tree, then you are destroying the bush. If you do that in the wrong place, like a national park, you can be fined for it.

Hunting has some good things about it too. First of all you can get free meat and if you're trained it takes only minutes to find an animal. The hormones in the animal change to frightened when they can see you clearly, this means the meat at the supermarket has those hormones. While when you kill the animal without it seeing you, means the meat is fine. So therefore hunting is cheaper then the meat at the supermarket you buy.

Hunting keeps the population of lots of animal down. Lots of animals breed quickly and cause destruction to our natural environment. This will affect native animals that need the food the pests take for themselves. For example the humble stoat, he will sneak away into native bird borrows and take the eggs for himself like a kiwi’s, he can also climb up trees so he can catch his prey. Goats keep the prickles down but can take a native plant for a
different plant and eat it, and animals in the wild can eat our native plants too, they could wipe out the native plants. So even if it is sad to kill an animal, the hunters keep pests populations down.

A thing to think about is do you want to hunt? It is a decision every hunter has thought about, think carefully. The last thing you want is to make a wrong turn in your life and take the wrong path. I know I don’t want to hunt and kill the poor animals, they deserve to live and so do you. What I mean by that is some hunters kill their partner by accident or the hunter is so focused on the animal they nearly walk off a cliff. So why hunt, why take this risk of your life? Some say it is for fun, some say it is good exercise, yes that is true but think…   do poor animals like elephants need to be killed just for the tusks? I don’t think they have to die, this is why I am standing up and saying animals have a right to LIVE!

The Arthur's pass camp

            Arthur's pass camp
“Gah, no, don’t, please…” when I sit up, the room came into focus. It was the day of the almighty Arthur’s Pass camp!
I scorched my toast and spread some honey onto it of course I ate it, I didn’t mind if it was a bit burnt. When I arrived at school my friends were already there, Everyone's bags were on the floor, so I hung mine up and wandered into the classroom just as the bus turned up, it was a crazy fiasco. Everyone ran outside like a wild tornado when Mr M gave us the heads up… we chucked our bags onto the bus and climbed in, It was about a 1 hour 30 minute trip toArthur's pass.

When we got to Arthur’s Pass everyone got out and carried a couple of bags on to the front porch. We went in took our boots off and stood there, gobsmacked dumbfounded even.
The room was sooooooo big! When I was on the bus I thought it would be small and like the place we went to last time, but instead it is big and roomy, there were big long wood tables and two doors to the kitchen. So we sat down had  morning tea, then Logan, the owner of the lodge, came in to greet us.

After that we went out for orienteering, my group was Rhea, Mark, Sonny, Sahara’s Dad, Carolyn and Dayna. We were looking for white posts with words engraved in them, we came last by 5 minutes though it was still fun!

Next we came back for lunch after lunch we went to the bunk rooms and sorted our stuff out. The bunks were 3 high so of course I was going for top bunk, though Rhea got it, she climbed up and then couldn't get down luckily her mum was on camp and got her down. That meant I got the top bunk!! >;-) , So I chucked my sleeping bag up and went back to the lounge / dining room.

We the went for a hike up devil's punchbowl, and believe me there were a lot of steps we played a couple of  games then went up. When we were going up Logan stopped a couple of times to show us a dung plant and mosses. When we got to the top they split us into two groups I was in the first group and we went up to see the waterfall, the other group stayed and learnt how to play a new game, then we switched around. Kitchin group one was taken back in a van to prepare dinner, and I was in it. That night we had nachos and for dessert we had chocolate cake and fruit, I think the fruit was nicer than the cake because the cake was BURNT…

In the morning we woke to a  big thick blanket of snow. We all ran to the window in the lounge. White white and more white was all we could see - except for the trees - Some ran outside but didn’t get far, for Mr M stopped them. After breakfast we were allowed to go outside, but the boys blew it and kept throwing snowballs at people's faces then Mr M banned snowball throwing. We had a snowman building competition our team came second.

After that we went for a walk in two groups, One group stayed at the lodge and had  lunch the other went for the walk with Logan. The trees were still covered in snow we tried to throw snowballs at each other though Logan caught us, then he made up a game that you are allowed to shake the trees or throw a snowball at it to try get snow on someone. I got a few people but got a lot of snow on myself.

That night we had spaghetti bolognese and for pudding we had apple crumble though I missed out on it because Dad had to take me home, the road wasn't opened till 5.00pm from the snow. I also missed out on camp concert, the bonus was I didn’t have to pack up on Friday.

That was the end of my camp and I enjoyed it!! Thanks for reading.. Hope you enjoyed!!!!  \[~.~]/ ← smiley face

Hide and seek

Hide and seek...

The water is as cold as ice, but I don’t care I am with my friend making a huge sand castle and I like that.
Other adults, in colourful swimsuits, are chatting though I do not understand their gossip.
A couple of people came down. They must not see what they are looking for, they look desperate, then leave in about 30 seconds.
The smell of the river is refreshing, and the wind is just right; A nice warm breeze not too cold.
My friend’s dad comes over, saying they have to go.
Then someone comes running down the hill, They are is such a rush OH NO, it's dad I go up and hide in the bush. The bush is bright green like a highlighter, the wonderful smell floats up my nose, like a powerful perfume. Dad goes back just in time the bush is starting to scratch me like a cat clawing at a mouse.
I run up the hill and run back to the tent as fast as a bird that has a jet pack!
But dad caught me making my escape I mean I am only three, I’m not too fast.
“Alright you little… COME HERE!” Dad yells.
Now I have to take in the shouting from dad.
He has become his thunderous side again, and wants me to go straight home, though I can’t. When the horrible shouting noise stops mum comes calmly over and says, the whole of tui was looking for me…

My Monday Morning

‘And then I fall off the… ‘ it was a dream, I lie in bed half awake half asleep. My eyes are groggy with sleep dust and my lips are dry from last night with no water,(radio alarm) “remember, today is Monday, the first day of the school and work term so children will be going back to…” the radio doesn’t get to finish the sentence off because I turn it off and groan, “...school”. It must be 6.45am, the time I set my alarm though it feels like I have been woken up by a storm at 3.52am. The dueves get pushed off with the sheets, and I feel for my green monster slippers and blue and grey dressing gown.

I grab a bowl out of the cupboard, with a very empty box of nutty crunch. As soon as the packets gone I realise that I’m having a small breakfast and gobble it all up like a racing car. I then have a shower it is so warm I don’t want to get out but I know I have to. After a good ten minute shower, I do my hair get  dressed grab my chrome
-book and bag then  jump in the car beeping and tooting the horn like an angry bird. Mum finally gets annoyed enough and comes out of the house, I can see she is grumpy and doesn’t want to drive me to school because she has to drive to Christchurch. I sit down and wait till I get to the warm room 6, in this icy cold car…
The great adventure part 1,2,3

Part 1 the gymnastics on the stairs

I am rolling down the stairs in my sleeping bag like a rolling rock, actually that's not quite right.I am slipping now roly-poling down the stairs in my sleeping bag at high speed bumping into walls on the way down.I am in a fancy hotel in France with my friends, Sinead and Bridget. it has been so good so far but I still can’t believe Sinead brought her annoying brother with her( she even regretted it but her Mum made her). But what I didn’t know was something alot more unexpeted is going to happen but I can’t tell you what they  are yet, it’s a secret for now.Anyway back to the story I am doing part of my gymnastics routine on the stairs and My head hurts because on the way down the stairs I  grazed it on my way down. And to make matters worse some of the blood on my forehead went onto the stairs.Suddenly I see blood on the stairs.
look around I didn’t see that before but the I feel my head.“Ahhhh” I’m Bleeding on top of My head Suddenly I bumped  into my friend Sinead littelery I bumped into her not on purpose of course. But soon she knocked over the line for the toilet Bridget was first so it sent Bridget head-first into the toilet bowl. But while I was getting up I lost sight of Sinead.
Thanks for reading part 1, please read part 2 next.

Part 2 the toilet!

I am running into the toilets at speed now,[the toilets are automatic] my head goes into the toilet bowl and just at that moment the automatic toilet FLUSHES!!!!!!!!How did this happen you may ask well, we all went to France (me, Natasha and Sinead, Sineads brother and our parents)and we came to this fancy hotel and now we are staying here for a holiday. Oh and did I mention Shaymus came too ( Sinead’s older brother, she regretted it a lot )so the toilets here are automatic and I have a fear of automatic toilets. All I remember is that Natasha was roly polying towards the line, then knocking Sinead down, which knocked 3 strangers down, and the last stranger that was behind me pushed me which sent me running at high speed and I couldn’t stop, and then the doors open, someone walks out I am coming in at high speed.Next thing I find my head stuck in the toilet bowl. I could smell chlorine and water went into my mouth, then it FLUSHED it felt gruesome and i think what is happening what is happening and that kept on going on in my mind. So that's what happened!
thanks for reading parts 2 and part 1 before
Please read part 3  now.

PART- 3 The monster under my bed.

Ahh!!!! You're probably wondering why I’m screaming, well I’ll tell you now. Hi I’m Sinead, Natasha and bridget’s friend and we are on a holiday in France in a hotel with our parents and my older brother Shaymus [ I regret it a lot ], I should get on with the story now. I was walking past my bed to get the first aid kit for Natasha because she grazed head while she was rolling down the stairs. I had just grabbed it when suddenly something grabbed my ankle. I was frozen with fear. I was so scared that I couldn’t scream or even move! About 3 seconds later I fell face first into the bed and I bit my lip really hard and it started bleeding. I finally managed to move so I gathered all my strength and courage (because i was so scared) and I looked under my bed and there I saw my annoying Brother Shaymus pulling a scary face. “ you are the most annoying person in the world!’’I Yelled “I know I am” he said. He got out from under my bed and then I grabbed the first aid kit (still with goose bumps all over  me because I got such a fright when he grabbed my leg) ,ran down the stairs and gave the kit to Natasha then she put a plaster on the top of her head!I didn’t tell her but it looked kind of funny. I grabbed a cloth from the kit and cleaned the blood from my lip because it was still bleeding. “ Was it fun rolling down the stairs like a boulder?’’ I asked Natasha. “yep “ she said “but now Bridgets head is stuck in the toilet and I have a bleeding forehead!”. We rushed to the toilet [ luckily the door was not locked ]and there we met Bridget with her head stuck in the toilet so we pulled her out. “Thanks guys!” She says. ”The taste of toilet water is disgusting and it doesn't smell too nice when someone just done their business in it!”
